Meet The Founders
Kara Douville
Kara is a silicon architecture engineer working for Microsoft with a passion for promoting diversity and inclusion. She is also co-founder of BuildHer. Kara believes that creating meaningful connections and fostering networks between women is crucial to future success. She has experienced this first hand during her time as a member and section president of the Society of Women Engineers. Since then she has continued to work towards creating environments to forge worthwhile relationships and career opportunities. Kara holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Utah, where she graduated magna cum laude.
Mandy Shold
Mandy is a communications professional specializing in corporate social responsibility. Her passion for diversity and inclusion is reflected not only in her job at premiere PR agency Edelman, but also as a writer for female entrepreneur blog Babes Who Hustle. Both professionally and personally, she is passionately committed to social justice and making sure that everyone’s voice is heard. Most importantly, she wholeheartedly believes that the best way to build a better future is to do so together - a belief that lead to the creation of BuildHer and her role as co-founder. Mandy's passion for CSR was ignited in college where she earned dual degrees in Public Relations and Environmental Studies from the University of Oregon where she was on the Dean's List.
